Dundee LibDem Convener welcomes new rights for disabled air passengers

Dundee Liberal Democrat Local Party Convener, Raymond Lawrie, has today welcomed news that the European Parliament has adopted a new Regulation giving disabled air passengers new rights when travelling by air, aimed to ensure that recent cases of airlines refusing to carry such passengers because of their disability are a thing of the past.

Dundee LibDems say - It's Time Young People Were Given The Vote

Members of Parliament voted last week on whether a Bill should be introduced to reduce the voting age to 16. The vote was on a move by Liberal Democrat Stephen Williams MP to introduce a Private Members Bill but unfortunately the bill was defeated by only eight votes. Cllr Fraser Macpherson, Dundee City Council Liberal Democrat Group Leader, said the defeat of the bill was "really disappointing and very short-sighted."

Dundee LibDems back national campaign for warm homes

Dundee Liberal Democrats are backing the Warm Homes Campaign, the annual winter campaign organised by fuel poverty charity Energy Action Scotland, in association with energy supplier Powergen, to highlight the plight of households who are unable to afford to heat their homes to adequate levels this winter.

Finance Convener welcomes benefits initiative

Cllr Fraser Macpherson, Liberal Democrat Convener of Finance on Dundee City Council, has welcomed the City Council's "The Spotlight's on Benefit Fraud" initiative, to help ensure that benefits, including Housing and Council Tax Benefits administered by the City Council, are paid to those rightly entitled to them and help stamp out benefit fraud. Dundee LibDems say mass lobby will help keep trade justice at the top of the Government's agenda

Commenting ahead of tomorrow's Make Poverty History mass lobby for trade justice, Cllr Fraser Macpherson, Dundee City Council Liberal Democrat Group Leader said "I fully support this mass lobby it is an excellent way of keeping trade justice high up on the Government's agenda. The G8 countries must not let the consensus that has been developed through Make Poverty History and Live8 slip away."
