Dundee City Council's Liberal Democrat Finance Convener, Cllr Fraser Macpherson, has today (Saturday 14th October) said that the Scottish Nationalists' vast spending pledges "simply do not add up."

"The SNP has made spending promises galore and has promised to cut Non-Domestic Rates and Corporation Tax too - its simply doesn't add up," said Cllr Fraser Macpherson.

"Earlier this week the SNP admitted that it accepted money from a big business donor who has a stake in a uranium company. And this from a party that claims to be against nuclear power.

"Despite all the SNP's hype that it is doing well, the reality is that the September 2006 YouGov poll shows the SNP to be 12% behind their polling position in August 1998. The SNP is worse placed than at either two previous elections," concluded Cllr Macpherson.
