Dundee LibDems welcome report on promoting green lifestyles

News that environmental advisers to the UK government are urging more radical action to promote green lifestyles has been welcomed by Dundee Liberal Democrats.

The Sustainable Consumption Roundtable (SCR) says people need a clear lead from government. Dundee LibDem local party Secretary Michael Charlton said today (Tuesday 2nd May), "This is to be greatly welcomed. The Labour government has given too little real regard to issues of sustainability."

Chris Huhne MP, Liberal Democrat spokesperson on the Environment sad, "I welcome this report's recommendations, particularly those to increase the top rate of VED and charges on aircraft emissions and to give property tax rebates to the most sustainable households, all of which are existing Lib Dem policies.

"The Roundtable is right to say people need help to make green decisions. That is why it is such a cop-out for Labour and the Tories not to support raising environmental taxes."
