Cllr Fraser Macpherson calls on First Group to extend cheap rail fares to Scotland

Dundee City Council's Liberal Democrat Group Leader, Cllr Fraser Macpherson, today (Saturday 28th October) called on rail service provider First Group to extend its cheap rail fare deals to Scotland.

Cllr Macpherson was responding to the introduction of the cheap fare promotion, 'First Minute Fares', in England. The promotion by First Great Western, part of the First Group, offers trips from London to Bristol for just £10. But comparable fares in Scotland are far more expensive.

Cllr Macpherson said, "How can First Group justify this promotion being offered only south of the border. Surely if it's good enough for England it's good enough for Scotland?

"The Liberal Democrats are calling on First Scot Rail to introduce the 'First Minute Fares' promotion in Scotland."
