Cllr Fraser Macpherson acts on Step Row hydrant burst concern

Following concerns expressed by residents about delays in necessary water hydrant repairs by Scottish Water in Step Row in his Dundee Tay Bridges Ward, Liberal Democrat Councillor Fraser Macpherson has contacted Scottish Water's Business & Community Liaison Manager to ask for a full explanation for the delay in the problem being fully sorted and an assurance it will be given full priority.

The problems started around a fortnight ago when a spindle failure led to water pouring from a pipe and leaking all over the roadway of Step Row, damaging vehicles and soaking the adjacent buildings and street.

Councillor Macpherson said, "I have been in contact with Scottish Water's Business & Community Liaison Manager to seek assurances that the necessary permanent repairs to resolve the problem, following on from temporary repairs undertaken, will commence as soon as possible.

"I understand that a short road closure will be necessary whilst the permanent repairs are carried out and, as this will require a Traffic Order which can take a few weeks to finalise, I have also contacted the City Council's Planning and Transportation to see if the process can be speeded up to ensure the repair is completed as quickly as possible."
