Dundee Strathmartine Ward LibDem Councillor Helen Dick today (Sunday 18th June) gave her strong support to this week's 2006 Motor Neurone Disease Awareness Week.

The week is an annual event organised by the Motor Neurone Disease Association, aimed at raising awareness of the disease and funds for the charity.

The Motor Neurone Disease Association will be organising and/or supporting multiple team walks taking place for everyone regardless of age or fitness levels during Motor Neurone Disease Awareness Week. They aim to beat last year's total, which topped £90,000.

Helen said, "'Motor Neurone Disease Week is of the most important week in the Motor Neurone Disease Association calendar, encouraging supporters to participate in national initiatives to raise awareness of Motor Neurone Disease and the work of the Association.

"The Association campaigns to ensure that all affected by Motor Neurone Disease can secure the care and support they need and it also promotes research into causes and treatments. The Awareness Week deserves support and I wish it every success," concluded Helen.
