Caird Park Golf Course left to go to rack and ruin by Dundee City Council says Councillor.

Strathmartine councillor Daniel Coleman has criticised Dundee City Council’s neglect of the former Caird Park Golf Course in his ward.

Councillor Coleman said:

“I have long criticised the mess in the former Camperdown Golf Course. It was left to go to rack and ruin after the SNP council administration closed it and it's now hugely overgrown and totally neglected. Caird Park Golf Course is now going exactly the same way and it’s extremely depressing to see that.”
“ It would appear that everywhere the SNP closes a facility, it is left sadly neglected and that is not good enough.”
“The council has confirmed to the Liberal Democrat Group that it is in discussion with an interested party to hopefully take over the former golf course and it is blindly obvious that leaving the course to get badly overgrown makes the former course less attractive as a proposition to take on.”

The Liberal Democrat Group formally requested this month that the council cut and maintain both former golf courses and the interim head of environment has now replied:
“I have made arrangements for both sites to be cut and litter uplifted as soon as possible.”

Councillor Coleman said he would not hold his breath on how extensive this will prove to be, adding:
“The council must do much better to maintain these former golf courses. The current state of them is completely unacceptable.”
