Assisting private tenants in Dundee

A very helpful, new advice leaflet has been produced by the City Council, in partnership with Dundee Law Centre, Shelter and Dundee Citizens Advice Bureau, along with the council’s own Housing, Advice Services, Customer Services and communications teams, for private tenants in Dundee. It covers the main aspects of what tenants' rights are and includes contact details for the relevant agencies and services that they can contact.

The leaflet has been created in response to the fair housing work carried out by the Dundee Partnership’s Fairness Leadership Panel. One of the recommendations, included in the Local Child Poverty and Fairness Action Plan, was “using different communication methods, deliver a Dundee-wide publicity campaign to make private tenants aware of their rights.”

The leaflet is being widely distributed both physically and electronically to ensure as broad a reach as possible and Dundee’s Liberal Democrat councillors are assisting this effort. There will be copies available in every library, GP surgeries and community centres.
