Michael Charlton welcomes Scottish Liberal Democrat gains forecast

Dundee Liberal Democrats today (Friday 2nd February) welcomed news that the latest ICM poll showed substantial LibDem gains across Scotland at this May's Scottish Parliamentary elections.
The poll, published in the Scotsman, projected the Liberal Democrats making a net gain of 6 seats, increasing the party's total MSPs to 23. The poll sees the Labour and Conservative parties falling back, and a meltdown for the smaller parties.
Although the poll shows an SNP increase, Malcolm Bruce MP, Chair of the Scottish LibDem Election Campaign pointed out, "The SNP always fail to live up to their poll hype unlike the LibDems who regularly improve on their pre-election poll ratings.
"This is reinforced by the SNP's failure to win Livingston or Cathcart, compared to the LibDems who had a spectacular win in the Dunfermline by-election."
Locally, Liberal Democrat Scottish Parliamentary candidate for Dundee West, Michael Charlton, said, "The Liberal Democrats are doing well and there is no doubt we are making the running in campaigning terms across Dundee."
