Dundee Liberal Democrats reiterate call to protect Dundee's local Post Offices

Concern about the intentions of the Westminster Labour Government over the future of Scotland's Post Office network has today (Wednesday 13th December) prompted Dundee Liberal Democrats to reiterate their call for the Post Office network to be saved from closure and cutback.

In the past few days Postwatch Scotland has made clear its concern following speculation that Royal Mail could close up to 3,000 post offices across the UK. Last Wednesday, ten Scottish Liberal Democrat MPs met with DTI Minister Jim Fitzpatrick to express their concerns over the future of the network.

Here in Dundee, LibDem local party secretary Michael Charlton said, "There are real concerns about the future of the Post Office network and Labour's intentions towards them. Although much of the speculation has been about the axe falling on rural services, Post Offices are vital to communities both urban and rural. We will strongly oppose any further erosion in the local Post Office provision in Dundee."
