Cllr Fraser Macpherson condemns cash machine charges

Dundee Liberal Democrats today (19th July) spoke out in support of calls for Government Ministers to take action against cash machine operators following the publication of research showing that more than 40 per cent of ATMs charge fees.

City Council LibDem Finance Convener, Cllr Fraser Macpherson, said, ''This is a growing concern, especially given that there are parts of the country where there is almost a total lack of free dispensers and the study gives clear evidence that the poorest households are most affected by cash machine charges.

''Some time ago, Dundee City Councillors unanimously passed a motion at committee condemning these charges. There is a clear need for government action on this issue.''
