Dundee LibDems support Campaign Against Climate Change meeting

Dundee Liberal Democrats today (Thursday 4th May) lent their support to the World Development Movement (WDM) Tayside and the local group of the Campaign Against Climate Change (CACC) who are holding a meeting later this month in Dundee to discuss action on global warming.

Writer and activist Jonathan Neale will be talking about the CACC, the development of the Stop Climate Chaos network, of which WDM is a member, and plans for action on November 4th, the international day of action against climate change. He will also be discussing what we are doing internationally with particular focus on getting Western Europe involved this year and in holding events in Kenya as the climate negotiations take place in Nairobi this year.

Jonathan Neale is a renowned playwright and author, with a BSc in Social Anthropology and a PhD in Social History. Born in New York City, he has lived mainly in London since 1970 and also in Afghanistan, Nepal and India.

Since January 2001, he has been a spokesman and organiser for Globalise Resistance, the anti-capitalist umbrella group. He was one of the three delegates from Britain to the Genoa Social Forum. He was part of the civil rights and anti-war movements in the US in the late 60s and early 70s.

The meeting takes place at 7.15pm on Thursday May 25th in Room T9, Tower Building, Dundee University, Perth Road, Dundee. Admission to the event is free. For more details, contact Tony Welsh (07886 530 988) or Allan Kelly (07854 808 075).
